Process of social media (photo shoot)
photo shoot
For our social media we booked in the photography studio to take some good quality photos to put on our Instagram and Twitter. We did this photo shoot to make the band look professional and also something to show off their personalities a little bit more. We set up all the lighting and also prepared the background for the shoot we also used a number of props to keep the shoot fun and to come out with some really interesting and cool photos.Process of social media
making the posts
as I was doing the Twitter account I had lots of different ways of posting I could include pictures small videos I could retweet other things from other bands and other artists or other people in general and also I could come out with statements. I show you how I uploaded my posts and what type of things I would include when posting about the band.Process of social media
downloading apps:
For social media I also downloaded some editing apps to help edit the photos to make them look more professional. obviously to start my social media campaign I had to download Twitter but you cannot edit photos in huge detail on Twitter so I downloaded an app called VSCO, This allowed me to edit the photos in more detail and also provided me with more philtres and things to add to the photo to make them more appealing to the eye and also to make my social media look more put together.
here is an example of how I used this app:

first group campain feedback
After my first draught of social media I went to my group for feedback they said that all of my posts so far were relevant to The concept of the video, They thought that the way that I had retweeted other peoples posts was original and different too everyone else is social media, they also mentioned that the genre of the band was made clear and they could understand the type of music that they would come out with and play, things to improve on is to do a proper photo shoot to get some good quality images and get images of the band altogether and also to maybe not include photos of other bands who already have a big image for example my post on the Arctic Monkeys.
In conclusion they thought that it was a good starting point and what I've done so far was good and to carry on how I was but make it look a little bit more professional and put together which will come with the photo shoot.
planning photo shoot for social media and digipak
For our digipak and some of our social media, we decide to do a photoshoot with our whole band we booked the photography studio for an afternoon we then messaged the band to let them know we wanted them out of there costumes that they wore for the music video so they all the social media and digipak wasn’t the same.

Then I made that username:
And then I did there bio:
feedback on digipak desigh
I showed my group and also my teacher what I had done in terms of my album artwork design I designed a front cover an inside left cover in inside right cover and also a back cover.
In terms of the inside left cover they said that they I really liked the design that I had done they said I eventually worked very well as I used a drum kit as the round part of the CD and because it's using instruments incorporated in the cover is a way to symbolise this. however it was a slightly different colour scheme to the front but they did say that it's not hugely important it just matters that the two inside covers are the same colour scheme and they can be slightly different to the two external covers.
when it came to my right inside cover they also really really liked the design however again it was another photo from the shoot so I would have to do something similar in a different location in a different outfit but they still really really liked it. they like how it was really over exposed and they said if I made everything else a little bit lighter it would really fit into the colour scheme and they would all go really well together.

research into social media (guns and roses)
For my research into similar bands artists social medias I have chosen the killers and also guns and roses the killers an indie rock band and guns and roses are more of a rock band they both have recent posts on their social media and they frequently interact with their audiences and come out with campaigns and tours and live shows so I thought they would be perfect to do my social Media Research on them they're also all boy bands lit is the same as our band.
Guns and roses have 2.4 million followers on Instagram and they have 2127 posts they have many different stories about that tour that 2022 told the 2021 tour they have the greatest hits they have a 2020 tour. You can tell by these posts that they keep that audience informed and also up to date as well as it's a place for their fanbase to look back on that recent and future tours.
here is a timeline leading up to their most recent live tour.

shoot day reflection
My shoot the reflection
I felt that on our shoot day we worked extremely well as a team and I am very happy and proud of what we came out with he worked extremely hard all day to come out with the best video we possibly could and I feel like we have achieved this, we made sure that all our shortlists and shooting schedule were printed out ready for us so we were ready to start as soon as possible, For our first set up we had all the band in the same room with no set and we used the black curtains as a backdrop this took very little time to set up so we could quickly get started on the lighting it took us quite a while to get used to lighting and find the states that we felt fit our video well we played around a lot with the colouring and took our time in deciding what would fit best throughout our video we used a lot of heavy strobe lighting and we had to work very hard in making sure that the strobe wasn't coinciding with the shutter speed on the camera otherwise we would see nothing and this is something that I took away from the shoot at learned as I did not know this before. it took us quite a while to get the lighting right but once we had it we are very happy with what we had and we were glad that we spent the time that we did on it.
The next part of the shoot was when we went on location, we all drove into Guildford we had pre planned all our locations and so we parked and started straight away we used a single frame camera to take the shots of them in Guildford your single frame camera work to create the effect Of them jumping around and it gave the pre-existing footage a bit of texture I made it look really cool every time we do a sexually stop and look at what we had and if we like what we had we would then carry on the single frame camera work really fit their style let's be careful in Guildford as we were out when it was dark so we had to watch out for cars and other members of the public but we felt that we handled this really well and we got lots of amazing footage, I think because we were outside the band also really able to relax and they were really acting like they were a band this made it a very smooth experience.
In conclusion I think that as agreed we worked very well together we managed to overcome any issues and problems that came along the way and we were able to adapt to anything that didn't quite workout we felt that we were well prepared and well equipped for our shoot day and we also had an amazing time shooting the video and we are very proud of what we have achieved we did have to shoot a little bit a few days later of just the guitarist and lead vocalist as we did run out of time so something that I would improve would be hard management I'm making sure that we are sticking to a strict schedule.

social media within a music campaign
For our band we will definitely be using many different social media platforms to market that album especially because our band is a smaller band it's less well known it means they don't have to spend any money on marketing and also it gives them the opportunity to possibly go viral which we have seen in the recent years with people like Jayden who when viral through tick tock and also bands like Manskin we started off on Eurovision but people on tik tok created videos of them and made their band go huge. This is also a way for our band to show people what they're really like and create a reputation for themselves. through pictures and videos and stories they can really express who they are as a band and what they stand for this is really good in terms of drawing in a target audience because people will be able to see what they're like and what type of genre of music they create this will then result in them growing a small fanbase which will hopefully grow bigger in time to come.
Digipak research of my genre
Some out of artworks that I have researched into are the killers album artworks their album artwork is very simple and they have a running theme with there font this creates not only continuity between the albums but also is something for their fans to recognise every time they see that font they think of the killers it's almost like their logo like for example The Rolling Stones they have an iconic image that people know them for and anytime anyone sees that logo they'll think of the rolling stones and anytime anyone sees that logo they'll think of The Rolling Stones so even though we are only creating album artwork for one album I think having something on there that could be repeated in future albums would be a good idea.
This strokes album artwork is a very striking image it's very dark and very simplistic there's not a huge amount going on so you can really focus on the main image.
The Arctic Monkeys album artwork it's also very simplistic and minimalistic on one of the covers that is just a symbol in black and white with the band name on the front in an interesting font and on the other one it's the lead person in the band and it's just a portrait of them again this is in black and white this is definitely some key inspiration for my album artwork design.
Some key conventions of album artwork in my genre are dark tones they usually have the band on the front and they I usually positioned with the singer more predominantly in the front or the person that's more well known on the front. this is to help sell the album as usually it's not necessarily the look of the problem it's more who is in the band.
Things that you need to include on your album artwork is the name of the band the name of the song you need all the legal information on the back if this song has explicit words than it needs a parental advisory sticker on the front on the back there needs to be a list of all the songs and the track numbers and also it needs to include a barcode on the back.
Keeping a running theme throughout my campaign is very important I think that in terms of my album artwork I'll keep the colour schemes very similar to the colour of all music video shoot it was black and white and also had glimpses of blue in there I think if I do it through the colour it's subtle but also enough to pick up they are altogether. And also using the actual band members in the all work will also bridge the gap.

jenkins theory on spreadability
Jenkins famously said that "if it doesn’t spread its dead" referring to media texts. spreadability is all about making something shareable and interactive. this is why online marketing and especially marketing through social media has become so prominent in the past years as we have been able to see the effects of texts going viral through the ability to share. its crucial that for something to stay active on social media it has to be something people will share with friends and family this could be down to if the video is really funny or if the content is relatable ect, this will grow the video to a much wider audience.
For our social media marketing se are going to set up profiles of the band on many platforms this will include instagram, twitter, facebook and youtube, this way we can get coverage across the main platform resulting in a wide range of audience reach. to keep the audience engaged and excited about our work we will upload and stay constant with post that will entertain our audience.
