advanced lighting workshop

For our lighting workshop we used the black magic camera she looked through the lighting and we use a 50mm lens which was a mid shot type lens, the normal lights that come with the building are called the house lights and before you turn it off it's a good idea to give everyone a warning just in case somebody is relying on them too see what they're doing, the house lights are the bare minimum the most basic lighting that you can give. the first light that we looked at was called a redhead light a redhead light is a little bit more powerful than you normal light and often lights can blow especially ones that are very powerful and therefore this particular light as a metal netting guard to protect anyone or anything if it were to blow. For this redhead to work most efficiently it is common to place it as close to the camera as possible and to also habit facing the subject another point to add to when you're using any type of lighting and that is too what the person who you are about to light as the lights are very bright. Sometimes red headlights can be too strong and to help soften this you can frost the light With some tracing paper. the most standard lighting technique is called 3 point lighting and this is where the subject is led from three different places the main light is called the key light the next light you would use it's called the fill light and third light is the backlight, another type of lighting technique is called the beauty lighting. To change the colour of lighting you can use things called gels or sometimes they are called philtres add these are a plasticky sheet the place over the light and it will change the colour.

A different type of light that we also use are fluorescent lights or sometimes called “florrys” these lights are not dimmable inside these tubes that are the fluorescent bulbs and we can change the colour of them by putting different gels on the inside when it comes to lighting with these specific lights we use the same 3 point lighting technique that we would normally use which includes a key light a fill light and a backlight.

The next light that we talked about is called a FOTO-FLO, It is a very warm and soft light when it is teamed up with the red headlight it gives a very pretty effect, next lights ah from a brand called PHONTON BEARD These lights are extremely cold and they're almost white.

test shoot plan

Our test shoot plan:

things that we need to bring to the shoot:
  • small tighten tubes
  • instruments
  • black paper (black out)
  • skateboard
  • DLSR camera (cannon)
  • drum stick
  • ladder
  • phones
  • duck tape
next week we are setting up a test shoot that will be a idea of what we will be doing for our real shoot, we are going to bring our cast together and rehearse our idea this will give us a good representation of the layout and look of our shoot. This is going to be critical to seeing how our ideas are going to work and we can work out what will look good and what will look bad this will be really important in making sure we don't wast any time and come out with the best video possible. how are we going to do the test shoot, we have made a group chat with all our band members in so that we can easily communicate with them we have given the a time and a place to meet and also what they need to bring with them, we have also booked a music room to film the band shots in and also we have talked to matt about using the studio. As a group we have decided who brings in what so that we are fully prepared and don't wast anytime.

casting video 2

here is our final additions and casting video, these 4 people are the people that we think suit our video the best so we arranged a time for them to play one last time and this was to see how well they would work together in a band.

Groups Time Line

here are all our groups time lines that we have done individually we did it individually to start so that we would have more ideas ad collaboratively we could put our ideas together to create something that we are all happy with.

set designs

Here is are groups set designs we have all gone away and created sets that we have talked about, we all wanted to do our own set designs as that way we could come up with some of our own ideas this way we could come up with more ideas and create a set that we are all proud of and that we thing will represent the song the best.

here are my designs these are all from the front on perspective:

This is the cramped room it has a ceiling and the walls are rather
inclosed is has a feeling of claustrophobia this room is connected
with a door to a tunnel.

This is a tunnel is going to consist of white panels and metal bars across the top of it is is not going to be very tall and the band members are crawl through it and also we may knock down one of the walls to track along side them with a camera.
this is the main performance room this has no roof and it is made out of black panels this is were that bend will do there performance aspect of the video there will be white strobes and flashing lights and the set will be quite minimal.

this is the one corridor that we are going to have however we are going to dress it 3 different ways one is going to be covered in mirrors one is going to be inspired by a hospital corridor and one is just going to be plane.
